Beijing Love Story

I stayed at home and watched a very popular Chinese TV play called ‘Beijing Love Story’. In this TV play, Shi Xiaomeng, a man from a remote village in Yunnan Province, broke up with his lovely girl Shen Bing for the position of general manager in a listed company.

Shi Xiaomeng and Shen Bing are childhood sweethearts. He works in Beijing after graduation and pays all his money to buy a small apartment for him and Shen Bing. His life isn’t smooth. He has encountered too many difficulties. The cruel reality forces him to believe that he can never compete with those who were born in a rich family no matter how hard he works. Eventually, he gives up and chooses to take a shortcut. His best friend Cheng Feng is from a rich family. One day, he saw Xiaomeng’s girlfriend Shen Bing and had a crush on her. Shi Xiaomeng knew this. Thus, he accepts a deal from his best friend’ father that he gains the position of general manager on condition that he breaks up with his girl and never see her.
